I am reading The Linnet Bird by Linda Holeman. It is my current monthly book club read. I doubt I would have picked it on my own, but am glad to have been introduced to it. I am really enjoying it. It's a definite recommend :-)
Peace,
Sarah

I was underwhelmed with the writing. I did stick with it because I wanted to find out what happened with the Woman Movement. I am now reading Women as World Builders which was a source of reference for the author. I studied Perkins Gilman in college and my interest in her kept me reading about Mamah's translations for Key. I was taken aback by the traumatic ending...gruesome.

I HATED this book. Read it for book club. My biggest complaint is with the ending. It was wrapped up quickly and easily and totally unrealistically. The theme of the book is a good one, and I could see how the author worked it in on several levels. However, reading the book was a huge chore and I will never recommend this book.

I used to wait to look up words until the end of the chapter. But now, I pretty consistently look up the word right away. It does break up the flow, so I go back a few sentences and work from there. It helps that I love using the dictionary :-)
Peace,
Sarah
