I know the authors wife, she worked with me for a time in the Duke Down syndrome clinic. Somehow that made this book a bit voyeuristic for me (and maybe not in a good way). I find Emily Giffin's books very easy to read, and fluffy enough to be considered chick lit, brain candy. At the same time, she can hit upon things that strike a cord with me. First read in Sept 2005... I found this book a little hard to get into. Once the plot got moving, it moved along relatively well. I recall liking the parts of the book involving the two main characters falling in love. The ending... well... how else could the author end it?

I read this again for book club in Oct 2009. It was better the second go around, I remembered the ending, which made it disappointing in a way. I liked hearing all of my friend's thoughts about the book.
