I love a good fiction book, but I want to come away feeling as though it was worth the time spent. For example, East of Eden was chock full of passages that caused me to reflect on them longer than the time it just took to read.

I don't mind sex in a book; I read most of the Lawrence Sanders books which have plenty. I just feel that some things don't have to be so explicit and could have done without it. I know I am in the minority on my 3 stars; I would have given it 3.5 stars had that been available. This made our 17 hour trip to NE more bearable. Truth is always stranger than fiction, and this crime novel is no exception. Two brothers are murdered on opposite ends of the world.
