I also run into a huge moral dilemma since I like meat but I love animals.
My main thing is that the animals we eat should be treated humanely. I know that's a strange sentence that some people would pounce on and badger me about but it's my opinion.
I think there ARE ways to treat stock animals well and then put them to death painlessly before they are used for food. We all die sometime; humans and animal alike. It's not like those animals would live forever if we don't eat them. It's true that their lives are shortened greatly but couldn't we make up for some of that by treating them exceptionally well while they're alive?
It's the mistreatment of stock animals that horrifies me. Their shortened life span bothers me a lot too but not nearly to the degree that their mistreatment does.
I cannot watch those Exposés shown on TV where people infiltrate livestock farms. I'm thankful someone is exposing people who mistreat animals but I can't just can't watch the results of what they find. ]]>
