I picked up and read this one as it is about one of the subjects I am interested in. I enjoyed it, but can't say that I really learned anything from it.... He talks about "weisure" where we are working during our leisure time by being tied to our blackberries, etc. Times sure have changed since the 1950's, but since I have lived through these changes, I was already aware of the vast majority of them. Didn't even find new insight into these issues. That being said, I still found that it was easy to read and kept me going.... If this is your subject and don't have a better book to read, try this one!(less)

"I really enjoyed this book. It definitely made me glad to be born and raised in America, where women have so much more freedom. I don't usually read books like this, but I'm glad I found it! Would definitely recommend this one!

I really wanted to like this book. I did read all the way through, but was a bit disappointed with it. To me, it seemed very repetitious. Not a lot about gaming itself, just lots of charts comparing younger and older gamers and non-gamers and how they vary regarding business situations. Much more of a business book than a gaming book. While this book is mainly about Counter Strike, a game I have never played, I found it fairly interesting. Getting games to go more mainstream, eg. televising matches is something that hasn't gotten very far, despite the masses gaming more and more. People would rather be playing than watching. Despite this, there are lots of people out there trying to earn a living from competitive gaming! Interesting read for gamers who think they might be able to go pro!(less)

Definitely recommended for anyone who likes games. There are no put downs here, not one word about video games being bad for you.... So, whether you just started playing or are old skool, this one is for you!(less)

Lots of gloom and doom here! The author claims that we are running out of commodities, which will make the US dollar fall in relation to currencies of resource rich countries. He claims there isn't even enough iron in the world to build all the wind turbines we would need to switch to alternative energy! Switching our cars to natural gas wouldn't work either as he says natural gas fields tend to get depleted rapidly. We are basking in a false sense of security, while the rug is being pulled out from under us. He claims inflation will rise to between 30 and 40 per cent!
"The single most essential asset to invest in for the next decade is gold." He even advertises his website, so you can keep up with changes....
An interesting take on the subject. I don't think things are quite as bad as he portrays here, at least, I hope not!(less)

It took me a while to get into this book. The subject matter is interesting, but I didn't find that it was written in a way that I couldn't put it down....
That being said, I finally finished it up today. It left me with a feeling that just about all the myths can be shattered by saying that the US is much better off now than it would have been if we didn't take the land from the Native Americans, bring over slaves, allow big businesses to flourish and allow foreigners to come and stay. All of those things allowed us to make progress to the point where even the poorest among us have cell phones, tv's, cars, computers, etc, things that were either non-existant or only for the very rich a hundred years ago.
He points out that we established Liberia, so that former slaves would be able to go "back home", but that things were better here and most of them decided to stay.
If you are interested in the subject matter, take a look at it, but it's pretty dry...(less)

I enjoyed parts of this book, while others seemed a bit boring or repetitious. He often states that it takes 10,000 to become proficient enough to become a star in any chosen field. He also goes into how the year or even month of your birth is very important. Canadian hockey players are most successful when they are born in January, as they are the older players on a team and when young, those few extra months they have over their peers make a world of difference.
He also points out that people like Bill Gates were born in the right year, and how he really got into computers before most of us and hence, had his 10,000 hours in early...(less)
