What I loved most about this book is that really bad people can find redemption and forgiveness. Burned is the first book by Ellen Hopkins and I really enjoyed reading it until the end. Burned is about a teenage girl, Pattyn, who is growing up in a Morman and abusive home.

As she begins to discover hormones and romance, she questions her religion. When she is caught in a compromising situation with a boy, she is sent away for the summer to live with her aunt.

Hopkins manages to tap into this confusing time for teenagers with precision. I felt the angst of Pattyn and her pain.
