It starts out quick so that you’re right into the thick of it all and it just keeps you turning those pages to see what’s going to happen. Don’t start this book in the evening because unless you’re a super fast reader you will not be sleeping any time soon!

McKenna is one wicked hero. He’s so intense and not afraid to tell Aline that he loves her. He cries, he laughs, he broods —he’s just one amazing alpha! His deep-seated hatred for Aline as an adult just simmers throughout the story –you can feel that this guy is going to blow!--but he’s fighting between love and hate for her and he doesn’t know what to do or how to act. He’s so direct too with her telling her things that will have you bug-eyed and saying “ok there buddy!” (lol!)

Aline is a great heroine too. She does everything she can to really hurt McKenna so that he won’t love her because it’s for his own good. When the two of them get together though sparks not only fly they soar!

The secondary story with Aline’s sister Olivia is very good too. At first I was annoyed that there was another couple taking precedence but then I really wanted to know what happened between them. Actually the whole Marsden family story is very well-done. The father is truly evil and though he's only in the book for a few pages you just want to kill this sob :-o

There are parts in this story that will just have you sobbing “why!!!” in total frustration and I knew the ending already so that shouldn’t even happen, but that goes to show what an amazing author Kleypas is. You can really feel the all-consuming desire and the need that McKenna and Aline have for each other. They really are two halves of a whole. I’m not a fan of old friends becoming lovers stories but this one is certainly a cut above.

So if you want a rollercoaster ride of a love story this is one to pick up pronto! It’s got twists, it’s got turns and hidden corners and tons of heart stopping loops that’ll have you screaming out “Yesssss!!!!” :D

FYI: If you don’t like spoilers you should consider reading this one before reading Kleypas’ Wallflower series.
