I've just started reading this based on another's recommendation on the AAUW blog. To be honest, this is not my typical night-time reading, but I really wanted to participate in the Oprah online 10-week "book-club" and this was the book being discussed. I am always on the lookout for interactive opportunities AAUW may think about starting someday and knowing how our members love their book clubs, I thought this might be an interesting opportunity to see an online book club in action.

Well, from what I can tell, there were so many people attempting to get online for the first session, it crashed shortly after take-off, as it were. I tried again in week two, with the same results. FYI - the book, to quote from Amazon's review shows "how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world."

I finally realized as I let week-after-week slide by without either trying to read or to watch the live event,that my interest level in this book was not enough to keep me going either reading or viewing. Looking at the Amazon rating system, a lot of people did like it; however my rating is more reflective of my disinterest in how the subject matter was presented than in the quality of the book itself.

As for using the web for an interactive book club - that still has my interest!
