From a cosmological perspective, I find observance a more essential quality and base reflections on that concept. I live in a city with such enormous amounts of light pollution that a clear night's sky is a deep navy blue, and few stars can be seen. From that perspective one might observe that the universe stops somewhere above the city, but I know from my walks under a night's sky in the Arizona and New Mexico deserts that there is a greater expanse. From the Hubble images, there is even more than we can imagine. I rather think that as our tools to observe become more sophisticated and our sight reaches further, the question will become less a matter of a binary "believe or not believe," and more of a realization that there is a cosmological expanse that transcends any anthropomorphic deity.

I'd rather be called an "observer" than any of the proposed labels. Considering my location in the reality that I can observe, there is no observable centre, and I am only a fleck in a universe that seemingly has no edge to it. Perhaps this universe is likewise a fleck among other flecks in a further expansive environment. Each time we say "we are the centre, we find that we are massively mistaken, and each time we say that we are the only one, we find that we are in an uncountable cast. To observe the trend, I believe that it would be foolish to assume any ultimate deity, if there would be one, would be observable from my terrible small position. This, however, isn't going to stop me from trying to make an observation. Each time I do, I learn something about myself.
