Paula W added a status update: Goodreads is the full extent of my social media since leaving FB and Twitter. But I have friends from all over the world on Goodreads. I want to tell my friends from the Middle East (the "Muslim terrorist nations") and from Mexico that I have a gigantic house with a few unused bedrooms and can fit at least 8 people if some of you bring air mattresses. Trump doesn't speak for me. I love you all.

Kurt Vonnegut
“- Why me?
- That is a very Earthling question to ask, Mr. Pilgrim. Why you? Why us for that matter? Why anything? Because this moment simply is. Have you ever seen bugs trapped in amber?
- Yes.
- Well, here we are, Mr. Pilgrim, trapped in the amber of this moment. There is no why.”
Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five

P.D. James
“If our sex life were determined by our first youthful experiments, most of the world would be doomed to celibacy. In no area of human experience are human beings more convinced that something better can be had only if they persevere.”
P.D. James, The Children of Men

Dr. Seuss
“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”
Dr. Seuss

Jane Austen
“I have been used to consider poetry as "the food of love" said Darcy.

"Of a fine, stout, healthy love it may. Everything nourishes what is
strong already. But if it be only a slight, thin sort of inclination, I
am convinced that one good sonnet will starve it entirely away.”
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

Dr. Seuss
“So be sure when you step, Step with care and great tact. And remember that life's A Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed) Kid, you'll move mountains.”
Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You'll Go!
