Great science fiction with interesting and likeable characters with a well constructed plot. I loved the spiritual aspect and the overall construction of the universe. A very enjoyable read!

Dark and dirty. At time the language and atmosphere were just absorbing. The characterization was particularly good and had a great depth to it that was unexpected. The plot sounded dull, when I read the description of the book but there is so much m...more

A sea-green sky: lamps blossoming white. This is marginal land: fields of strung wire, of treadless tyres in ditches, fridges dead on their backs, and starving ponies cropping the mud. It is a landscape running with outcasts and escapees, with Afghans, Turks and Kurds: with scapegoats, scarred with bottle and burn marks, limping from the cities with broken ribs. The life forms here are rejects, or anomalies: the cats tipped from speeding cars, and the Heathrow sheep, their fleece clotted with the stench of aviation fuel.Hilary Mantel

Not a setting or history that I am terribly familiar with, that is what attracted me to the story. I have conflicting feelings about most of the characters. I don't know what I think of them or even if I care at all. The book was well written but cou...more

A good story, post apocalyptic without being depressing, romantic without being sappy. The characters were good and charming. Nothing particularly special or original but a decent read.

Lacked a bit in comparison to the last book. The characterization didn't seem quite as well done and it was more predictable but still it wasn't bad.

Great suspense and characterization. Interesting concepts and atmosphere. I liked the ending, not because it was what I wanted or expected but I understand it and it was well constructed.
