"The term of 'moral maturation' is new to me, but the concept is not - morality shifting to encompass care for the earth, nature, and animals as a moral obligation. Author quotes Darwin's _Descent of Man_ where he wrestled with some of the same questions and concluded that the day may come when sensitivities were broadened to include these 'beings'."
