my tips:

1. rediscover the joys of children's and adolescent literature. reread your old favourites, and browse for new ones.
2. consider reading more than one book at a time, so there's always something on hand to suit your reading mood.
3. start using the public library again! access to all those free books = minimum investment, maximum returns.
4. read whatever catches your fancy. don't worry about hype, bestsellers, respected authors, etc.
