<about>I love life, cooking gourmet meals or plain fare, grilling, and eating at really good restaurants. I love good wine, good friends to share, and talking, laughing and eating.

I love people, all people, all over the world. I love to travel, meet new friends, experience new cultures and tastes.

I love to write stories about realistic heros with no exceptional abilities but win by perseverance, commitment to overcoming adversity, and clinging to love, honesty and faith in themselves and others.

I loved meeting new people, on the net or in person. I hate intolerance, arrogant ignorance and small mindedness.

</about>

Because Will is on the way here, Susanna?

Hi. Been really busy catching up from my holidays. Missed ya'll.

I did work on my non-fiction book, in which I explore left vs. right and libertarian vs. authoritarian concepts and look for ways to have discourse without rancor. It is the most difficult project I have ever attempted.

I'm starting a pool on when health-care reform will be accomplished. Who wants the first offer, 2009? Next is 2010? and then 'never' is the 3rd choice. any takers?

I pick Jan, 2010.

I had an interesting discussion about "What happened in Texas?" I have always had a certain pride of being 'from' Texas (I had to cheat a bit to make the claim); strong, independent, hard-working, proud Americans; the backbone of America. Now...idiots, it seems.

If someone is offended by that, just respond to it with intelligence and clarity and I will retract the statement. spount, "We should secede from the Union to defend the Constitution, as all good Americans should," and I will cling to my belief that something strange happened there that I missed.

Hi.  How is everyone?

I doubt that any changes will really affect me personally, but I'll weigh in here, anyway.

I am for single payer health care, ultimately. I support our current attempt to reform our broken system. My fear is that we will continue to water down the reform and it will become no reform, and that wil be the end of it for another generation.

I am ultimately a capitalist, and support the concept of businesses making profits. I disapprove of government running anything, usually. I am forced to move to the more socialist side of this one, though, because the health insurance companies have abused their capitalist responsibilities to society to the point they can't be responsible businesses any longer, as have many businesses lately. They bought out their competition and now are monopolies of essential services. TR would be really angry.

The American people don't like radical change until they see the benefits of it -- for them.

Better health care services will benefit not just the uninsured, but the business owners, insured, the economy, the deficit, and the health and welfare of society. The current system will continue to suck the life out of the economy, business and society. Time to try something new and hopefully better.

My fear is that what we will get will not be much or any better. It is looking like there may be something positive in it but it is too soon to tell. It certainly looks more Republican, in its current form, than I would have ever guessed, but it won't get Republican support. How did that happen?
