Of course the only reason its really a 4 and not a 5 is because 5 stars goes to The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe.

A great read, and while it seems to plod along a bit, there is a lot in here to discuss with kids. Anyone get the part about not being safe around Bacchus (or was it Dionysus) except that Aslan was there?

I read it with about 28 4th graders as a novel study. They loved it. Some of us met at the movie theater to see it after it came out and talk about it over icecream.

The movie has some detail that needed to be added to be a blockbuster as well as a few things taken away. I'm glad they did it, and even glad of the changes if that is what it takes to get it on the screen.

Originally, I didn't want to read this book because I thought it was a bunch of dull writings by a bunch of dead white guys (I was in my mid 20's when I read it). While part of that is true (I think they're all dead), I enjoyed it until towards the end. The last few selections aren't quite as interesting to me for some reason.
Generally, this book is full of well selected spiritual writings. I encourage it to be read in a small group, but maybe that is because I like to talk!
As a Friend (Quaker), I found the reflections and study to be very congruous with my faith, while challenging me to deeper devotion and dedication. That isn't too much of a surprise since Foster attended George Fox U and has many Friends in his life.

Great as a small group or individual study (depending on the person).

This is a great book offering the Friends perspective on the Bible and theology. I found it much easier to read than the Journal of George Fox.

I have been teaching for about 3 1/2 years. My parents used Love and Logic in our house, so as a classroom tool, it made great sense to me.
It taught me how to effectively interact with all students, even the ones that "push my buttons" in constructive way.
They have easy to use ideas that do not replace what you're already doing. You might decide to change something you're doing now, but its not meant to be a system really. It is about controlling you and letting them control themselves.
It takes practice, but you start to celebrate every time something works (you remember to use it) and reflect on how to improve those times you forget.
I am now an advanced facilitator of their parenting classes. I wish all the parents in my class could read the parenting book or get to a class.

    			  I LOVE This book!!!
I am rereading it again... and again... pretty much always getting something new out of it. If you are a new parent, or an experienced one, read this! If you are having a difficult time with your child, read it! If you want to avoid a difficult time, read it!
