Many people have written this book off for various reasons. Yes, Lindsay explores the possiblity that Dexter might be possessed, but that thought already crossed my mind long ago. He has a Dark Passenger who directs him in various ways - sounds similar to possession to me.

Since Dexter's Dark Passenger leaves him early on, he explores various reasons why, and how he might get IT back. I love the different ideas and notions Dexter takes. He is given a decision: to not fake being human anymore and just 'live,' or, choose the life he had really lived previously - and he chooses as he should!

This book is all about character development, and most people hate that because it tends to be a little slow, and this book is, to some degree. But I feel like I know Dexter better, and appreciate his humor and his Dark Passenger more - just like he does.

Ignore some of the peripherals in this book, such as some of the subplots. They act as blinders to the real plot, and may not have much closure themselves, but the main plot does, and that matters most.
