"Quick and enjoyable read. Deeper than I thought it would be and different, in many ways, from the movie version.

"Delightful. It is a beautiful book--full of both mystery and humanity.
By all means, do not let the length dissuade you from reading it. In fact, I wish it went on longer. " |

"Interesting and informative memoir shaped around the author's childhood memories of food. She argues that industrial food, for the most part, is devoid of taste and often not healthier than traditional foods, just more stable.

Actually, I'm surprised there weren't more than 35. There should really be at least 36, given our numerous unsuccessful efforts to read "The Golden Bowl."
And in re Beowulf, while I have noted to myself that I am probably overly generous with ratings, you shouldn't underestimate my fondness for Hrothgar, the Spear-Danes, and their mead halls.
