I saw this book under someone elses books and had to add it to mine. I had forgotten about it until now. It is about a little boy who travels. I love this book beacuse it reminds me of my childhood. I moved from Plano to Pennsylvannia when I was in the 2nd grade. My friend in Plano sent me a letter with flat Stanley. It talked about how Stanely likes to travel and go on exciting adventures. She asked me to take a picture of Stanley and I doing something fun. Since I lived in a town where we got lots of snow and I knew that TExas does not. I took a picture of Stanley and I playing in the snow. I was then asked to send Stanely and the picture to one of my friends with the same letter. Stanely soon made it back to the oringial owner and she shared his adventures with then entire class. I think that this pen pal technique is fun for all children. It can also be used as a writing prompt. When a studnet gets their Stanely back with all the pictures they can write there own book about all the adventures that he went on.

This book is great for beginning or struggling readers. It teaches kids the rhyming scheme, which is such an important skill to have when leanring how to read. Children can hear the words that rhyme. I read this book to my two year old nephew. It is one of his favorites. He has heard it so many times that when I leave out a word he says the word that is coming up. I use this as a teaching time to point to the word as he says it. Then I repeat the sentence and point to the words as I read them. Rhyming is so much fun for little kids, and this book has so much of it to offer. Besides Dr. Seus is everyones favorite!

This is a very cute book about the first day jitters. It has a great message and every child can connect to it. It shows children the fears, excitment, nerves, etc emotions that the character is feeling for their first day of class. I think that this book should be read at the beginning of class fo k-1st grades. These younger graders are very taumatic for younger students. If they are read that it is normal to feel all the emotions that they are feeling, it may clamn their jitters.

This book has a great message about never giving up. The little girl Grace believes that she can do or be anything. She has a vivid imagination as she acts out differnt roles throughout the entire book. Her class play is peter pan and her teacher tells her tha thtere will be try outs coming up soon. Grace wants to play the part of Peter but all of her class mates tell her that she can't because she is girl and black. Grace's mother tells Grace that she can be anything she wants to be and to not let the other children stand in her way. In the end Grace is Peter. This story lets children know that nothing is impossible. They can be anything that they want. I believe that this message is so important to young children. This book can be used as a prompt for children to think of something that they would like to be. It could also be used for students to think of a time that someone told them they couldn't do something and they proved them wrong.

My mom read this book to me when I was a child. It's about a mothers love for her little boy. He gets into trouble but she always tells him, "I'll love you forever. I'll like you for always. As long as your living by baby you'll be." In the end the message is switched and the little boy is taking care of his sick mother. He reats this message to his mother has she is lying in bed and rocking her to sleep. I think that this book would be good for younger students. You can do a lesson on emotions and feelings with this book. Talking about how the mother may feel when the little boy gets into toruble, or about how the boy feels when his mother is sick. It is just the sweetest book ever!

Mrs. Meritt began her 3312 class by reading a couple of chapters a day from this book. I looked forward to this time every day. The book has such a great message! It is about a boy named Bradley Chalkers who no one likes. He is known as the trouble maker throughout the school He goes through a lot of struggles and never seems to think that he can do good. A counselor comes to the school and becomes Bradley's best friend. She makes such a difference in his life and the other children begin to like Bradley. I like the message in this story.at first none of the children like Bradley but it is becuase no one really knows him or tries to get to know Bradley. In the end Bradley gets his gold star, he turns in his homework and makes friends. I think that this book should be read to any age studnets. For younger grades you could do a read aloud, but it might be a little long for k-1. The older grades could use this book as a chapter book that they have to read. I also believe that high schoolers would enjoy to be read aloud this book. It is very touching and I suggest it should be read by anyone of all ages!

This book is so cute. It is about a boy who has the worst day possible, or at least he thinks so. It is such a truthful book. All children believe that the littlest things make such a huge difference. It has a good plot and moral to the story. The childrne can learn that just becuase they may be having a bad day does not mean that it will end terrible. They must remain optimistic because there is always tomorrow or the day could end up on a good note. Every child will love the terrible things that happen to Alexander and really connect wtih the characteres. This book could be read in a read aloud or as a writing prompt. The students can write about there terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day (or use their imagination to make up such a bad day).

This book is good for early readers. It has no more than ten words per page. The phrase "GO AWAY..." is repeated throughout the book, so children who may be struggling readers can have a fun way to be included in the book. I did a read aloud lesson for my life skills block at an elementary school last semester. The kids really enjoyed this interactice book. It begins by the big green monster being built. On each page a new part to his face is added. The entire book is a cut out. Once the monster is built then the kids would say "GO AWAY green nose!" and that part of the monster would disapear when I turned the page. This proceeded until the monster was gone. I also made a felt board for this lesson. After the book was read each of my students built their monster. This was a good comprehension practice because they had to add the parts of the monster in the same order that the author did. It was a fun interactive lesson.

This is a childhood favorite of mine. There are so many poems that everyone can relate with at least one of them. I enjoy this book because it shows a variety of poems. Students often have the idea that poems have to rhyme. The author shows that poems can be short, long, rhyming, funny, etc. This book can be sued as a attention getter for poetry lessons. It can also be used in as simple of a way as having it in iyour classroom library. STudetns will be ablet o explore the book on their own. Children are often turned away from poetry. The more they are exposed to a variety of peoms the more they will feel comfortable in writing poetry.
