Absoultely amazing book. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

I have made a pact with myself to re-read this book once every two years to be sure I remember the invaluable information and advice.

This book had me in Italy (even underlined some phrases that I loved), then lost me in India and never picked me back up in Indonesia. I cannot figure out why this self-indulgent writing got such great NYT reviews. I wanted to love this book, but couldn't.

There are two things that will stick with me though: the story of 'getting Balinesed' by Liz's friend in Indonesia (amazing cultural insight) and her beautiful description of God in the first chapters.

Honestly, I'm not sure how I would have survived my first years living abroad without this book. Sure, some of it is (thankfully) more extreme than I need - like making your own bath salts.
