I checked a couple of the links you tweet to see if folks are clicking on them... and I found, for example, that 32 people have clicked on the link to The Heritage since October 18. For The Rejection Letter, it's 13 clicks since Nov. 12th. Now, having 32 people see something isn't bad, but with 50,000+ followers on the two accounts I checked, what this says is that your followers aren't engaged.

I can guess a few reasons why. On one account, I see 20K followers based on 1800 tweets. When I see that type of ratio, it says you're using software of some sort (or buying followers directly) to build up your follower count. These aren't necessarily people who are engaged: some auto-follow back, others follow to check you out but, I would imagine, run into the problem I mention below. In neither case have you gained engagement or a friend... though you've gained a number.

Also, I noticed that your tweetstream is pretty much entirely made up of you talking about your books. In the past you might've been making friends and tweeting funny/random, but you've moved away from that. There's no hard and fast rules about this, of course, but most folks who study social media would say that you talk about yourself maybe 1/10 of the time. Much beyond that, it starts to look like you are only there to advertise... and no one much wants to hang out with commercials online or on TV, for that matter.

I'd say that if you want to average more than a click a day, you should start engaging more. Retweet other good content and share something your followers find useful. Have conversations. Support other authors. Introduce people. Do something other than shine a light on yourself. While it might be counter-intuitive, it will make your efforts much more likely to succeed. In my consulting biz, I've seen this happen over and over... though, of course, everyone's own results may vary!
