i think the reading level is absolutely in line with fifth graders. the main character is 12 years old. there may be some balking at some of the language, nothing bad, just a little more "t.v." than yer usual classroom reads.

spoiler: the lead character ultimately does everything to "spite" his father. unwilling to accept that he wants his father's attention, he decides to do everything he can to NOT be like him. his mother is portrayed as a it of an airhead as well. most of the adults are dealt with as clueless and stupid. but this all reads very funny and it ties in nicely with the emotional development of a brilliant kid. ]]> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/78866080 to: Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger's (Hardcover) by John Elder Robison
