It's not a book for a non-english speaker to understand clearly but the context of those stories in this book which written by Mr.LonDon are perfect for whom who love the nature, adventuring, or romance. The book’s including “The call of the wild”- a song of brave and truth, “Diable- a Dog”- a picture of hate, “The odyssey of the North” – a love and romance story, “To build a fire”, “to the man on trail”, and “Love of life”. Each story bring each own beautiful meaning to the readers. There first two stories are the most interesting.
“The Call of the wild” : is a beautiful song about a dog, named Buck. Jack London seemed to be very successful in this story. He told the story of Buck as an angel of Buck’s friend. He described the mood of Buck in many situations such as angry, hungry, happy, silent, fierce and faithful. The story’s also telling Buck’s adventure. He was sold and bought by many people. The toil of trace and trail of Buck was described to the deepest details. The story also is a picture of great Alaska. In my opinion, he’s very successful at this point.
“Diable – a Dog” is the opposite story to “the Call of the wild”. The story is full of hate between two “evils”, one is a dog and one is its owner. Each other has a strong desire to kill each other. The owner raised the dog and taught it to hate him in spite of teach him the relationship. In this short story, one surprising point that rarely readers recognize. It’s the name of two main characters. The name of the owner is Bâtard in French and it means bastard in English. The Dog’s name is Diable and it means “devil” in English.
