That being said, let me utter another warning. Since I sometimes describe myself as an "old-fashioned Bertrand Russell agnostic," you may choose to take both my description of his work and my enthusiasm for it guardedly.
As erudite, complete and witty as it is easy to read, this is a one volume college eduction in western philosophy -- up to 1945 (when Russell wrote it).
