I predict I will hate the movie. Total brain candy -- thus the three stars. A spoiled daughter of divorced parents (think Alicia Silverstone in Clueless) gets sent off to a school for delinquents where all the teachers are actually ghosts of classic authors who committed suicide. One renegade ghost tries to mix fiction with real life at the risk of causing apocalypse, and the protagonist finds she's the only one who can stop it. Totally goofy, but also totally fun and not to be taken seriously at all....less

Will be teaching this book this coming semester in my intro to lit section. It's pretty easy to pigeonhole: private Catholic boys' school, one clique more powerful than the other, sadistic school leader, freshman refuses to conform, etc.
As predictable as the book seems, there's still plenty to relate to on a personal level. Solid writing, solid story....less
