Reading this with my Sophomores at the moment. It is a great reminder on how turning a blind eye to the problems in today's world can lead to humans turning on one another. A great book to read for anyone.

I love this book and I enjoy teaching it. I know there are some out there that believe that we shouldn't tackle the hard subjects in English, that the kids get enough out there in real life. My answer to that is this is exactly what English is for, we help other see that there are hard times and tough problems and then we help them look for ways to solve those problems. Though I enjoyed this book I think it will be a while before I pick up the next one. I am a reader that becomes rather emotionally invested in what she is reading. I had a hard time as the author killed off many of my favorite characters and let the "bad guys" rule the day.

This is my favorite book, it is the one that I read over and over and never get tired of. It is brilliant on so many levels I don't know where to start. It is more than the brilliance of Miss Austen's story but it is her characters. As much as we try to say society has changed since the 1800s it is untrue. I can still walk down the street and see examples of her characters and her situations. It is amazing that she can transcend all cultures and times.
