This is a dark novel, it concerns the difficulties of a time in Sounth Africa when there was still a great deal of inequality and bitterness about the faults of the past. The violence, that David and Lucie come up against, and what happens as a result, is a powerful example of the tragedies of that complex nation, but along with the horror and anger of what is done by three men, is a bitter understanding of why that has happened. This is a story that could only have been written about people in South Africa.(less) "
