To speak to the topic - I like so many time periods and settings - among my favorites are ancient Roman and medieval Britain, but I have to say, I have a special thing for American history.

Because I write the kind of book I like to read, the two books I have published both take place in Colonial America - lots of good stuff to build on there - the wilderness, clash of cultures, pioneer spirit, revolution - I just love it!

Though I live in the midwest, both of my novels are set on the east coast - MIDWIFE OF THE BLUE RIDGE is set on the Virginian frontier in 1763, and THE TORY WIDOW starts in 1775 in New York City.
