Not the best book in the trilogy, but a suitable end to one of the best fantasy trilogies I have read! Beddor's vision of Wonderland is amazing. I truly love the way he has shuffled Mr. Carrol's classic and rebuilt in using mostly the same parts, just in different orders, colors, and spellings. his series is a MUST read.

In a new twist to the time-tested time-traveler tale, Richard Doetsch takes us on a mind bending breakneck adventure of loss and betrayal, murder and thievery, love and redemption. Nick Quinn is thrust into a nightmare as a plane crashes near his home and then hours later he is arrested for the murder of his wife. A stranger offers him a pocket watch and the ability to travel back in time to stop the events leading to his wife's murder, but he will travel back one hour every 60 minutes. So at 8pm he will go back to 7pm, then when 8 rolls around again he will go back to 6, then at 7 he goes back to 5 and so forth. The intricate story line unfolds seamlessly as Nick stumbles across more of a mystery than he could ever have imagined. Nick discovers that every action could have countless unintended consequences; that even the smallest pebble will cause ripples when dropped in the pond. Doetsch balances the characters nicely as Nick learns more and each hour, but the characters he has met in the future are clueless as to what has transpired between Nick and themselves already, in Nick's time-line. Doetsch walks us through a potential minefield of plot issues without a misstep. I wonder if there will be more in Nicks future/ past? I look forward to it if there is.

Well, I tell ya, Chuck is one of my favorite authors- I usually read his books in one sitting, but you will not avoid the weirdness, nor the disgusting bits. He is sometimes more graphic than others, but he never pulls a punch. I honestly can't explain why I do enjoy him so, its just that he has some of the most unique story lines and his style general sucks me in and refuses to let go until the back cover closes... Try Lullaby and Choke, those were two of his best.

Jasper Fforde has just cemented himself forever in my top 5 authors list. He continues his tradition of intelligent silliness and unique world building, but this story takes his craft further than anything he has written to date. Set in the far future after the Something-That-Happened, the population of the world is now divided by the ability to see colors. What color you can see decides your social placement, and a new and very unusual set of Rules has been applied. But when the main character Edward Russett, travels to the remote outer fringes, he discovers that life may not be so cut and dry as he has always been led to believe. Fforde sets up a new series craftily, and leaves you satisfied yet yearning for the next course.

Joe Schreiber's third book (not counting the Star Wars Death Troopers) and he just keeps getting better. There were two instances in this book alone that I gasped out loud and my pulse picked up! This is the best ghost story I've read since "Ghost Story" by Peter Straub. All of Joe's books are quick reads but you may wan to read this one in the day light hours because it clings to you long after the last page is turned.

Let's ignore, for the moment, that this is a Star Wars novel. I would have ignored it had it not been written by Joe Schreiber. So with that in mind, this is a fun, new "zombies in space" story. Schreiber plays with the bio-warfare/ hive mentality aspects of zombie-ism. The characters were solid and engaging with just enough back story to make them real. Two points of contention: (and I write this in the knowledge that I am meeting Joe in 2 weeks) one, that the ship that the characters are aboard is MASSIVE yet the action takes place in all of three places, which leads into point two, that characters that have been zombified happen to stumble back upon their loved ones/enemies which is highly unlikely considering the size of the vessel (both of them) and the quantity of zombies. Regardless, I feel silly dissecting a zombie story. It was fun, it kept me wrapped up, there were scene of wonderful gruesomeness and zombie violence, and when you finally add back in the fact that it happened in the Star Wars universe with two of my favorite SW characters....You can't go wrong.
