I tried SO hard to get through this book, but from almost the first page, I was disappointed. I hated the characters--they were impossible to like, shallow caricatures all. And the writing was so overwrought. I read about half of it, then skimmed the rest, and nothing I skimmed made me want to go back and 'finish' it for real. A shame, since I did like "The Last Life". ]]>
