I bought this book on CD for my husband who is a huge classic rock and blues fan. However, he doesn't believe in reading anything except the daily sports page or Sports Illustrated. During a recent road trip, to my surprise, he brought the CD along and we listened to it roundtrip. I knew the typical stuff about Eric Clapton - about his affair with George Harrison's wife and about the tragic death of his son Conor, both of which he discuss in this book. However, most of the details revolved around his early days in England, his love for the blues, his disdain of trendy pop music, and the histories of how the many bands he was in were formed. It was very introspective and to me it seemed like he did a lot of self analysis (either himself or through therapy) about why he made certain decisions and why he had the issues he had - mainly with women, drugs, and alcohol. It felt like you were reading more of a journal than an actual book. It wasnt technically outstanding, but it was very real.
