Not nearly as funny as some of his other collections, but still amusing. I am rapt by his storytelling voice and find I MUST read on, even if the story lacks the ability to suck me in otherwise. This book was wonderfully written. I really enjoyed the varied characters and the amazing interlacing of their individual lives ~ as well as all the plot twists. For a 450+ page book, I was shocked I finished it in 3 days. I just wanted to know "whodunnit"!!!

A few of the characters were a bit ~ strong (stereotypical), shall I say, but I was OK with it because those characters were easy to follow in a book full of need-to-remember names. (I hate it when the characters blend into one another and you have to backtrack to figure them out again when they reappear in the story.)

I am very likely going to track down "Q&A" next as I haven't seen 'Slumdog' and this is my first introduction to V. Swarup.

This book is best if you can channel Ellen's voice and her way of speaking to the audience. It is written exactly as she speaks. Weird. I think this was my first "apocalyptic fiction" story, and it struck me odd.

At first the format threw me ~ it is a collection of letters from various people, back and forth. I wasn't sure I'd get into it... but soon you start to fall in love with the characters - each is so unique and special. The situation they are in is quite unique as well.

I zipped through this one. I couldn't wait to see what was to happen next to each individual. There were many unexpected turns and each left something wonderful to be found.
