I reread this (actually, listed to it un-abridged on tape) after many years and was astounded by what a great story this is (and how fresh it feels despite having been written in 1965 or so [after all, in general, Sci-Fi rarely ages well]).

I loved this. It's interesting that Christopher Tolkien decided not to include the history of 'The Hobbit' in his History of Middle Earth Series because he claimed that it was not part of the Silmarillion Mythology. Yet the author/editor showed just ...more
