Mediocrity win!
Okay, seriously. 3 audio books in one. What a bargain! Sort of.
1st to Die
From what I hear, this is not Patterson's only book that includes horrific crimes against women. It wasn't actually that bad a story, but there were a lot of "duh!" moments that made it hard for me to take the main character seriously. The reader for the audio book was so-so.
2nd Chance
This story was a little better than the first, and the crime scenes were less gruesome. I particularly like the father-daughter drama. More "duh" moments, of course, and a bit predictable. The reader of this one made me want to pierce my own eardrums. She used a high-pitch, nasal voice for the women, and a dull, inflectionless voice for the men.
3rd Degree
This is the best story of the three. While still somewhat predictable at times, there were enough surprises to keep me interested. The reader was a definite improvement over the first two.
Will I read a 4th Patterson book now that I finished with this box set? Perhaps, if I find myself stuck for something to read. At the very least they make good "filler" books. For now I'm moving on.(less)

I just finished reading this for the 4th time (I think). I think I've read the printed version twice, and now the audio version twice. It never fails to delight me! After I get through the LOTR series, I plan to read the other Tolkien books. How I've never gotten around to reading The Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales I'll never know.(less)
