Hans, I've never heard of someone reading a book because of a fictional character's actions, but I have to say, I really like your thinking. You are such an interesting mixture of right and left brain. ]]>
This is a collection of Vietnamese short-stories from famous native authors. The rhythm of many of the stories is different than Western writing, so one story I just couldn't parse. Most, though, were interesting and allowed another glimpse into a fascinating country. ]]>
What is it about polgamy that I find so interesting?
Excellent story about two women bound up in polygamous lifestyles; one in the present and one (real character) from the past who was one of Brigham Young's wives. ]]>

I fell into the story and hated to come to the end, a mark of a good book for me. I appreciated being able to differently view a piece of history we Americans generally know from one angle; though I should quickly add here that this is not a book of what is typically thought of as historical fiction. Anyway -- Anna, thank you for the excellent suggestion. ]]>
