Paul Pitts is such a fun author! I remember staying home on Halloween in eighth grade finishing my book report on RACING THE SUN also by Paul Pitts, thinking how sad it was to grow up....both books are a great read for kids. I think I will track down RACING THE SUN again, it's been a few years... these books have fun information about the Navajo Culture in them.

Oh I obviously love these juvenile fictions...this one is historical fiction to boot. Again a fun read for my kids at some point, with a little tiny bit about slavery (but not much). Cute and well written, light, like I like it! ;)

I really enjoyed this book, as I have the others written by this author. it's not perfect, but there are some good points and high adventure. A good recommendation or read about for my kids. The main character is a fifth grade boy, rich, smart, with a good heart who is finally given the gift of free TIME.
