I'm not going to delve too far into the synopsis, but mostly because I think that reading it is really the best way to understand all of the influences/genres that are present in this story.

For the most part I did enjoy this story. I have heard many good things about her Kate Daniels series, but I decided to start with this one since there are already 3 out in the other series. In On the Edge the characters were interesting and the description of some of the nasty critters in this story were grisly, but superb. There were some points where the internal monologue Rose had intermittently was a trifle much, it felt like there would be a lot of action, followed paragraphs of inner turmoil, rinse and repeat. I want to see how the characters feel more than having it told to me, but this is only a minor gripe. I really loved the world-building and the setting felt unique, which can be hard to come by in this genre nowadays.

I would recommend this to fans of paranormal/urban fantasy romance. I will probably check out the next book in this series. It is set for release next year, late 2010.

This is the third installment in the Julia Grey series. We find our trusty heroine traveling to Yorkshire to try to resolve her relationship with Brisbane once and for all. Of course, there's mystery afoot and Julia must play the sleuth again to try to uncover the secrets of Grimsgrave and the family that lives there. Will she succeed...or more importantly, lol, will she get the guy?

Silent on the Moor cemented what I already suspected, that I can rely on Deanna Raybourn for a fun, entertaining romp. Wherever she decides to go, I will follow. This was full of resolutions, for many characters involved and the trip was just as fun as the destination (even if you can see it from miles away).

Definitely recommended.

This is the second novel I have read by Neil Gaiman, the first being The Graveyard Book. I'd say that I enjoyed this one about just as much. I liked it, but I don't think it's necessarily anything to write home about.

Richard Mayhew has helped a young bleeding girl on the sidewalk, now he finds himself in London Below, an amazingly bizarre and dangerous world where rules are radically different from London Above. Richard will have to decide how much he is willing to sacrifice to help the young woman he rescued.

I thought there were some genuinely funny parts and interesting turns of phrase, but none of the characters were truly compelling to me. Recommended, but it would probably really interest fantasy genre followers.
