I expected to love this book because I think Mary Doria Russell is awesome. However, while the premise was intriguing, the story fell a bit flat in places for me. Still a good story. Perhaps 3 stars plus glitter?

This was an okay book, but not even close to Moloka'i. Character development was weak and it seemed as if he was trying too hard to cram way too much Hawaiian history into the story, coming off stilted and forced. ]]>
Ok, so the beginning was a bit over the top...but the story itself-- WOW! Disturbing to say the least. Looking forward to the book club's discussion of this one. ]]>

I know. I know. This isn't your typical James Patterson novel (because after all, I do love all things Alex Cross). I read it in spite of myself and actually enjoyed it. If you're in the mood for a Lifetime movie in chapter form, you'll like it, too! Nothing deep. Easy to read. Just a quick little escape...exactly what I was in the mood for! ]]>
