One of those books I liked 'despite myself'. I am not a huge King fan and it was a slog reading through this, but I discovered that it had a kind of epic feel to me and somehow it was a rite of passage to complete it after it was recommended by friends. Hard to explain why I enjoyed it; in some place is wasn't King-like. British scifi authors of the era and Wyndham in particular tend to write "tomorrow fiction" which I find not as fantastic as their US counterparts. Still, something about the feel of KW captured my imagination, sometimes I can recover the creepy feel of being immersed in this novel's premise. ]]>
