I love historical books - mostly non-fiction
This is historical fiction but I checked the
information on like about the displaced persons camp and it was on Cypress
I also checked several other international events and found them on line.
The plight of the Jewish people and the way they stick together is amazing. We have never had to live with anything like that.

Besides - You know me - I just love to read about suffering. Ha Ha Hee
It makes me feel soooo glad that I have my little life in Fair Oaks.

Love you
By the way - my computer is not working very well
I am using Jan's at the office

And: I bought Exodus at a used book store and it was so torn up when I finished it - I just threw it away. I am going to buy a hard back of Exodus to keep - I liked that much and in 15 years will read it again - or pass it along to someone.
Jayne
PS: Glad you are back safe

I was not as interested in the woman in the attic as I was in Jane's reactions to romance and social life, Also, Bronte gave some interesting consequences to the behavior and motives of the characters. I could not put this book down. It energized me.

    			  Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful
It took me a few pages - but I when I was pulled in I was passionate. I loved this book. I thought Jane Eyre was extraordinary. I admired her faith. I thought about her and her situations and how she handled them. Jane had a lot going for her and it was from the inside out - because she had no money, no security, no family, and was not even very pretty.

However, Jane had character that surpassed anyone in most books that I have read.

This book is a Must Read! It tells of courage in a young woman who bravely did not give in to this world and it's ways. I wanted her to at times, - but in the end, Charlotte Bronte made me
very happy that her protagonist stood firm in her beliefs.

It is more than a little disarming that this is not a book of fiction.
I loved the book for the insight into politics, the CIA and the FBI.
However, George Crile is an author who, in my opinion, gives more information than necessary. I kept saying ok - enough- I got it three pages ago.

He writes the story as a non-fiction report, and yet, it is unbelievable. Charlie Wilson is completely inappropriate most of the time. How could he wonder onto foreign soil representing our country?

I highly recommend this book because it is history and a great insight into the beginning of our current events.

The movie covered a lot, but of course, a lot was left out, like Charlie's short marriage and long decline into alcoholism, which was only symbolized in the movie.

Charlie Wilson was a Democrat hawk who saved freedom for the world from the Russians, stopping them for the first time from taking over a country, by spending insane amounts of U.S. treasure to fund the mujahideen in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, this same event set the stage for the Taliban takeover as Charlie was incapable of drawing the same level interest in Cogress for the fate of the decimated Afghani public as he could in killing Russians by their hands.(less)
