Having lived in Tuscaloosa, I was taken in by the reviews of Family Bible and had high expectations of a good read. I was very disappointed. Trash your Mom, idolize your philandering Dad, share your experimentation with marijuana and lesbian relationships in your teens, and only at the end give me a glimpse of your humanity as you work with patients at Bryce, left me wishing I had not wasted my Amazon.com dollars on this book.
Perhaps I am too "evangelical" to comprehend the "intellectual" magnetism this book has for the liberal, tolerant reviewers of today.
If I sound judgmental and grouchy, please pardon me. I am annoyed with myself for wasting time on this book when there are so many wonderful, edifying, and interesting books out there--beginning with God's Word.(less) "
