I always enjoy the Decker/Lazarus series. This one had a few extra twists since it brought the characters to New York’s Orthodox community. Kellerman does a great job of keeping the Orthodox community realistic. The story had great plots and twists, but also had some particularly unrealistic moments. I enjoyed the book.

Since I have already the fourth book in this series, it was fun to go back and discover how the characters met and interact. The book was good with a few good twists. I particularly liked the epilogue that added to the twists. Although not his best effort ever, a solid who-done-it book.

This was a great book that reminded me exactly why I fell in love with Grisham’s writing. He strays from his typical format slightly. Although there is a legal case at the center of the story, the main character is not a lawyer. Instead the book is about the editor of the town newspaper and the town’s personality. All of the characters are well developed and the story takes some great twists and turns. I would definitely recommend this book.

This was a good book and I wish I had been there to hear his actual Last Lecture. Pausch is an interesting person who has done a lot of interesting things. He presents his life’s wisdom in a humorous and simple manner. He does not say anything groundbreaking, but the moral of his lessons still hit home. It is a good reminder of priority setting.

This book got great reviews from so many people, but I found it boring and difficult to read. I could not force myself to finish the book. The writing was poor and message that Gladwell was trying to convey was simplistic and was basically common sense. I was not impressed and would not recommend this book to anyone.

I always enjoy the Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus stories, but this was from a new twist. The book was written from the perspective of Decker’s daughter, Cindy. It was a new way to look at the characters and I really enjoyed the story. I would definitely recommend this as a great easy read.

This was a great book. I loved hearing about all the places in Maine and her adventures with the Maine State Wardens. The book was well balance for the first ¾ of it, but the last quarter became a bit too religion heavy. It is entertaining and I would recommend reading it.

This book was both amazing and terrifying. Carolyn Jessup’s story was a harrowing one, but it also gave a glimpse into a truly horrifying cult. The fact that the FLDS can continue this type of activity right here in the US is very upsetting and one of the scariest things I have read about. On the other hand, Carolyn’s tale of survival and her endurance to overcome the circumstances she was born into, is wonderfully inspiring. The book is well written and does not seem to be embellished in any way. I strongly recommend reading this one.

I saw this book in the library and pulled it out because I remember people talking about it and making a big deal about it years ago. I had a very hard time getting into the book and found it very repetitive. I felt the message of the book was that life for women in Tehran sucks, except I already knew that and did not need to read this repetitive book to know that. The characters were not particularly endearing and I had to force myself to keep reading.

This book demonstrates why Grisham is such a great author. The book breaks his mold of small town boy in the south and but uses his same pattern of legal quandary. The characters were well developed and I could not put the book down because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Even though this book highlights everything I hate about the practice of law, it was a great book and I strongly recommend it. The end is awesome!
