the second in the skinned trilogy by robin wasserman finds the mech, lia, continuing the fight with her mech compatriots for the rights of the downloaded personage. the brotherhood of man (along with her old friend auden) are pushing to not only take away the rights of the mechs but attempting to learn what makes them tick in order to destroy them from the inside. meanwhile, biomax is starting to make their true colors known as secrets are revealed. this is a great series thus far, it really reminds me of scott westerfeld's uglies series, which is also great. i recommend this for those cyberpunk fans out there! ]]> <![CDATA[aaron added 'Skinned']]> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/57143200 to: Skinned (Skinned, #1) by Robin Wasserman
this is a very good beginning to robin wasserman's new trilogy. in this book lia kahn is a young lady who is injured beyond repair and is "downloaded" into a mechanical body that will never age and will never hurt. this puts her at odds with everyone and everything in her old life. what follows is a great ride. this book brings about the question of whether these downloaded creations are really the "real" thing or not. this is a very good book and i recommend it. ]]> <![CDATA[aaron added 'A Spot of Bother']]> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/43012195 to: A Spot of Bother (Hardcover) by Mark Haddon
i am becoming quite a fan of mark haddon with each successive book that he releases. you can tell from reading his works that he is quite taken with his characters and loves them in a way only a good author can. he makes them come to life and jump off the page with each turn. this novel follows george and his family of four, his wife jean, his daughter katie, and his son jamie. each of these characters are broken in their own way, but each is a fully redeemable character at the same time. other wonderfully broken character join the fray of this family's life as the book continues, including david (jean's affair), tony (jamie's boyfriend), jacob (katie's son), and ray (katie's fiancee). what follows is a great read of the nature of human beings, their brokeness, and their ability to rise to the occasion. the beginning was tough to get into, but halfway through it was very difficult to put down. if you liked his first, read this one as well. ]]> <![CDATA[aaron added 'The Better Part of Darkness']]> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/79819030 The Better Part of Darkness (Mass Market Paperback) by Kelly Gay
