I wonder what the intention was? The interpersonal relationship angle is kind of not my thing: too Oprah for my taste. I guess since the kids read it as about trees and nature....I saw it through their eyes and didn't bring Dr. Phil to it. But maybe that is what he meant...

Rory Stewart writes a great travelogue of his walk across Afghanistan. It gave me some insight into a culture that is more dissimilar than similar to our own. I found Mr. Stewart more likeable then Paul Theroux with as much insight into the places he visits.

If you like the Brunetti series, this is like visiting some old familiar friends. The plot is kind of all over the place and there is no real mystery in this one, but the characters are so likeable that it is hard to admit this wasn't that great of a book. but it is hot out and it is nice to read a breezy fast book.
