Great premise and super engrossing, I read the whole thing in two sittings, however I kept waiting for it to go a step further and in the end it felt sort of anti-climactic to me.

Kurt Vonnegut
“The Fourteenth Book is entitled, "What can a Thoughtful Man Hope for Mankind on Earth, Given the Experience of the Past Million Years?"
It doesn't take long to read The Fourteenth Book. It consists of one word and a period.
This is it: "Nothing.”
Kurt Vonnegut, Cat's Cradle

Jeanette Winterson
“In that house, you will find my heart. You must break in, Henri, and get it back for me.'
Was she mad? We had been talking figuratively. Her heart was in her body like mine. I tried to explain this to her, but she took my hand and put it against her chest.
Feel for yourself.”
Jeanette Winterson, The Passion

“A loss of any kind is horrible. Not because it takes away, but because it makes you believe- in newspapers, in tomatoes, in empty whiskey bottles.”
Anosh Irani, The Cripple and His Talismans
tags: hope, loss

Brian Azzarello
“You can forget ya keys or ya wallet, the first girl ya kissed, hell- even my birthday, but you'll never forget me.”
Brian Azzarello, 100 Bullets, Vol. 4: A Foregone Tomorrow

Aesop
“once upon a time all the rivers combined to protest against the action of the sea in making their waters salt. "When we come to you," sad they to the sea, "we are sweet and drinkable; but when once we have mingled with you, our waters become as briny and unpalatable as your own." The sea replied shortly, "Keep away from me, and you'll remain sweet.”
Aesop, Aesop's Fables
