"Pollan does a little history tour of four plants. Some he has grown...Some even that he has smoked. Lots of great factoids along the way. Dispells some of those Disney World myths folks are taught in elementary school.

Another great read from Pollan. Don't worry, this is not a rehash of The Omnivore's Dilemma or The Botany of Desire. He tackles the reality of why America is so FAT. He talks about what one can do to eat more in tune with our evolutionary background. He gives advice for restructuring one's diet... if only more folks would try and follow such advice. Would it be feasable to feed the masses??? I worry not....less

A wonderful book on what was happening in the Americas before Columbus "discovered" them. Advanced civilizations doing many cultural and scientific things. Not always in perfect harmony with the environment as Hollywood would have you believe. Not the dumb, savage as many were mistakenly taught. Very good book....less
