Couldn't even finish it. What a waste of money. All Alyssa does is scream and wait for her two goth boyfriends to save her. I really liked the beginning, where Alyssa struggled with her insanity. As soon as she arrived at Wonderland, though, things t ...more

Amazing! After buying Splintered and hating it with all of my guts, this was an excellent change. A heroine who can easily defend herself, a love interest who doesn't make me want to gag, and exciting plot were all found here.

“Even in the Future the Story Begins with Once Upon a Time.”
Marissa Meyer, Cinder

Laini Taylor
“Zuzana arched an eyebrow. She was a master of the eyebrow arch, and Karou envied her for it. Her own eyebrows did not function independently of each other, which handicapped her expressions of suspicion and disdain.”
Laini Taylor, Daughter of Smoke & Bone

Susan Ee
“Sometimes, as we're stumbling along in the dark, we hit something good.”
Susan Ee, Angelfall

Suzanne Collins
“Not exactly. You see, Portia and I think that the coal miner thing's very overdone. No one will remember you in that. And we both see it has our job to make District 12 tributes unforgettable,' says Cinna.
I'll be naked for sure, I think.
'So rather than focus on the coal mining itself, we're going to focus on the coal,' says Cinna.
Naked and covered in black dust, i think.
'And what do we do with coal? We burn it,' says Cinna. 'You're not afraid of fire, are you, Katniss?' He sees my expression and grins.”
Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games

Marissa Meyer
“Was it all in my head? A Lunar trick?”
Her stomach twisted. “No.” She shook her head, fervently. How to explain that she hadn’t had the gift before? That she couldn’t have used it against him? “I would never lie—”
The words faded. She had lied. Everything he knew about her had been a lie.
“I’m so sorry,” she finished, the words falling lamely in the open air.
Kai peeled his eyes away, finding some place of resignation off in the glistening garden. “You’re even more painful to look at than she is.”
Marissa Meyer, Cinder
