Most of the time I use store-bought, but I do make my own in preparation for the holidays. Over the summer I grill a lot of half chickens. I cut out the the backbones and wingtips and save them in the freezer for stock. By fall, I have plenty of stock material and I can make a big batch. I freeze it in 1 cup increments, and by the beginning of the new year (now) it's all gone. Chicken stock is the only kind I ever make because I use it far more than any other kind (although maybe I should make a veggie stock(?)).
