The immersion improves immensely once we get to Edward and the history of his family. The big disappointment, the major letdown, the unforgivable act, the thing that made me want to tear the book up and put it through my shredder, had to do with the climax of the novel. MINOR SPOILER: Because the story is from Bella's POV, and she is unconscious during the climax of the novel... the reader is 'told' what happens after the fact. Even if there is a reason for this plot-wise that is explained in later novels (I don't know yet), I was sorely disappointed by the end of this novel. Three stars for solid characters and narrative voice throughout. If there was a way to give it 2 1/2, I would have.(less) "
