An absolutely phenomenal comic anthology, sort of the indie equivalent of the beautiful FLIGHT volumes, Popgun runs the gamut from the tale of children in an Archaeological Society, to a powerpuff girls-esq super heroine, to even a Monty Python styled war of words between two luchadors.
From page to page, panel to panel, this book made me smile. And hey, check out that sweet Allred cover!
The only downside? As with ALL comic anthologies, the stories are kind of varying on their level of enjoyment or execution. It's definitely more miss than hit, but this also means the book isn't a perfect score. High recommendation, though. Can't wait for volume two!...less

What an amazing first volume. From the curator of the Flight comic anthology, this graphic novel is absolutely jawdropping from panel number 1, with intricate art, with simply stunning coloring.
The story itself is in the vein of the works of Hayato Miyazaki, and ends on a very solid cliffhanger, yet ties enough loose ends to feel complete on it's own.
Special commendation to the hand lettering. Too rare these days, but it really made the book feel like a cohesive whole.
Simply put, by the end of this book, you'll want a housebot....less

"The Indie Rock/Romance/Super Fighting action continues. The pace drops down to get more into the characters heads, and it's a stellar move. Nice color sequence to start, too.
