I am probably being a little generous in my rating of this book. I really enjoyed the story. It did seem a little choppy at times; each chapter is a different adventure in Bod's life. I liked this book because I got to "learn" the history of the early saints in a real people context. It's not every time I read a book for leisure that I feel the Spirit testifying the truthfulness of certain things. However, the interactions between the characters are so hokey. It's hard for me to swallow, much less believe. I know Lund can write better than this. It's hard for me to rate this book because I LOVED the first one so much. I feel really tempted to give this book a four, but I don't think it deserves it. The first two parts of this book were every bit as good as the first book in the series (in terms of writing, story, and emotion). The final section goes downhill, though. The writing is rushed and not very clear. The momentum and emotion are lost. The book leaves you hanging even more than book one. I care less, though, since it kind of lost me at the end there. Still a great book. I highly recommend the series. I am curious what others that I know think of this book! ]]>
